Red Dot

After striking out at four furniture stores, I felt like I was working too hard on our little staycation. You know what can always fix that? Yup. A pint. At Hair of the Dog no less. We like to do it up right on a Friday afternoon. And we were rewarded with a special treat. Blue Dot was aged in bourbon barrels with sour cherries to make the current From the Wood pour: Red Dot.

It’s a dark red brown color that is nice and cloudy making it look thicker than it is. Making me wonder what I am in for. It starts with a mouthful of dark fruits. Think plums, dried berries, currant. Then the barrel comes in with both wood and vanilla. Finishing with the tannins an hops fighting it out to a light, dry finish, especially for how warm and fruity it starts.

This is a very complex beer. I wouldn’t be surprised if ten people gave it ten fairly different descriptions. Especially since it will vary barrel to barrel. That said, it’s clear it’s a HoTD beer. Excellent and definitely worth at least the sampler pour. Happy Friday y’all. Time for the weekend. Time to drink beer.
