A fellow blogger pointed out this supposed quote from the well-known Don Younger the other day: “You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning”. Don was the best, wasn’t he? Continue reading
darkness delivered in a can
22 MarLast time we were here, I found a pretty awesome IPA from Santa Fe Brewing Company. I didn’t plan on buying more beer from them this time around, but look at that can! It’s their Black IPA. Love the simple, clean design. This one is part Oakland Raiders and part Cylon to me. Love it. Continue reading
Oregon summer series: beer #1
15 AugI realized today, staring out the window at work, that the midpoint for summer in Portland is either coming right up…or has unfortunately passed. I’m not going to get all doom-and-gloom here, but I sighed a bit louder than normal while thinking about it. In that instant, I decided to think of something positive about summer still being around. The first thing I thought was that it’s been a much better summer this year than the previous two. What glorious weather we have had for the last 4 weeks, right? My second thought went to all the summer beer I had yet to drink. The bombers and six-packs yet to be purchased, the canned beer on the golf course, and the exploration of beers I haven’t had the chance to sample.
Death and Taxes
1 AprOnly two things are guaranteed in life, right?
Figured I needed to drink something while I did this depressing little job. Decided on a can of 1811 Lager from Fort George. This is the perfect beer to drink while working (inside or out). 5.1% ABV with a crisp, dry finish make it extremely sessionable.
Hope you found your perfect beer for working on your 1040 this year. Cheers!
leaving on a jet plane
29 NovWe are headed out of town tomorrow. The wife, child and I are headed to the Lone Star State for my brother’s wedding. Then it’s on to visit more family in El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM. This brother is the last of the four boys to marry, so it is kind of big deal to the parents. We will be staying in the gulf town of Port Aransas, in a beach house overlooking the ocean. Lots of family in one house? That’s a recipe for drinking!
